Block Blast may seem simple on the surface, but mastering the grid requires sharp spatial awareness and careful planning. To maximize your score, you can’t just place blocks randomly—you need to set up powerful combos.

Here are the best strategies to increase your high score in Block Blast.

1. Plan for the Bulky Blocks

The biggest mistake new players make is filling up the board without leaving room for large, awkward shapes like the 3x3 square or the long 1x5 line.

• Try to keep a dedicated “open zone” of at least 3x3 to always accommodate the largest blocks the game might throw at you.

2. Set Up Multi-Line Clear Combos

Clearing one line at a time will keep you alive, but it won’t give you the explosive score boosts you need for a new high score.

• Build up solid rows and columns but intentionally leave one gap.
• When you get a straight block, drop it into the gap to clear 3 or 4 lines simultaneously. This triggers a massive combo multiplier.

3. Don’t Ignore the Edges

Many players focus too much on the center of the board. The edges are prime real estate for setting up your foundation.

• Start from the corners and build your way inward. This leaves the center open, giving you maximum flexibility for sudden, unwieldy block shapes.

4. Evaluate all Three Shapes Before Placing

You are given three shapes at a time. Do not place the first one you see. Look at all three and visualize the sequence that will leave the board in the cleanest state.

• Ask yourself: “If I place shape A here, will shape B still fit?“

5. Keep a Cool Head

Unlike Tetris, there is no time limit or falling blocks in Block Blast. Take your time. Analyze the board. One bad placement can create a cascading problem that ends your run. Always prioritize a clean board over a small score gain.
